The DMC-TZ8 offers a great combination of extra-wide to long telephoto zoom optics, high image quality and HD movie recording with the addition of as much intelligent technology as you wish to use. At the other end of the scale, manual exposure control allows you to take total control of your images.
12.1 Megapixels plus 12x Wide Zoom with Intelligent Resolution Technology
The Panasonic DMC-TZ8 has a high 12.1 megapixel resolution coupled with the Leica 12x zoom lens. For users familiar with 35mm cameras this is the equivalent of a 25-300mm zoom range. The generous wideangle setting is particularly useful for large group photos of dramatic landscapes. At the other end of the range, the zoom range can be extended to 23.4x with 3 megapixel resolution. Alternatively you can zoom up to 16x with very little loss of quality thanks to Intelligent Resolution Technology. This splits pixel data into contour, texture and smooth areas.
HD Movie Mode
The Lumix TZ8 can records movies in 720p HD quality in Motion JPEG format.
Power OIS
Twice as effective as the previous generation Mega OIS, this optical image stabilisation system is great for sports, low light or shooting while on the move.
Intelligent Auto
This function can be used for either stills or movies. Includes the following:
