Description
The Nikon Coolpix P950 is a versatile superzoom bridge camera offering a mix of still photography and video shooting capabilities. At the heart of the P950 is back-illuminated 16 megapixel CMOS sensor and EXPEED Image Processor which combine to produce high quality images and super-fast shooting, even in low light. You can also record 4K video at up to 30 fps, Full HD video at up to 60 fps and in-camera time-lapse recording. The star of the show however, is the massive 83x optical zoom which covers an amazing 24-2000mm equivalent focal length range. This huge reach is supported by Dual Detect Vibration Reduction, which compensates for the effects of camera shake in order to realize sharper results when shooting handheld. The P950 also features a bright 2.36m-dot OLED Electronic Viewfinder, a large 3.2-inch 921k-dot vari-angle touchscreen monitor and has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote camera control.
83x optical zoom
With a focal length range of 24–2000 mm (35mm equiv), this superzoom camera takes you to the heart of every scene. Go wide to show the landscape or zoom in to capture sharply focused images of distant wildlife. The 166x Dynamic Fine Zoom digitally extends the upper zoom limit to an incredible 4000mm.
High quality images
You get great results from dawn to dusk thanks to the 16 megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor and bright NIKKOR lens with wide f/2.8 maximum aperture. Nikon’s EXPEED image-processing engine and Super ED glass reduce distortion at high zoom.
4K movies
Easily record stereo 4K/UHD 30p footage, or Full HD (1080p) video at frame rates of up to 60p. Clean HDMI out lets you output videos to an external monitor during recording. A built-in microphone jack lets you use an external mic for better sound. Movie Manual mode lets you adjust key exposure settings while filming: ideal in changing light.
Vibration Reduction
Get steady photos and video footage, even when shooting handheld at super-telephoto lengths, or in low light. Nikon’s Dual Detect Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) lets you shoot up to five shutter stops slower than otherwise possible. VR Active mode delivers a more stable viewfinder and monitor image.
Time-lapse function
The in-camera time-lapse function is perfect for showing skyscapes, star trails, or plants opening in a forest glade. You can record magical time-lapse movies of approx. 10 seconds duration, which play back at either 25 fps or 30 fps. Scene modes automatically set the most appropriate shooting interval for your subject
Electronic Viewfinder
The large 1 cm (0.39 in) 2359k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder gives a clear view. An eye sensor automatically switches from monitor to viewfinder shooting as you lift the camera to your face.
Large tilting LCD monitor
Compose incredible shots with the bright 8.1 cm (3.2 in) 921k-dot LCD monitor, which can be tilted and twisted in almost any direction. It’s easy to frame images when holding the camera up high or down low.
RAW image capture
Edit with high-quality files. The COOLPIX P950 supports RAW (NRW) image capture, letting you save and export uncompressed image files to your processing/editing program of choice.
Hot Shoe
The full-size hot shoe makes it easy to mount Nikon accessories like Speedlights. Or try the Nikon DF-M1 Dot Sight: this foldable scope helps track even fast-flying birds and keep them in the centre of the frame.
Bird watching & moon mode
Bird watching mode lets you select three different AF areas to keep fast-moving subjects in focus. Moon mode optimises camera settings for clear astronomical images: ideal for capturing the moon in all its phases.
Stay connected
The SnapBridge app for iOS and Android enables an always-on connection between your COOLPIX P950 and a smart device. Share photos. Track trips via the GPS on your smart device, which SnapBridge uses to update location and date. The SnapBridge app also lets you use your smart device to operate the camera’s zoom or release the shutter.
