Description
The Canon EF 35mm f2 IS USM is a classic 35mm prime lens with a wide f/2 maximum aperture making it ideal for ideal for landscape, portrait and low-light photography. As well as featuring an aspherical element for improved image quality, this 35mm also features four stops of image stabilisation.
Fantastic Image Quality
The 35mm f/2 lens is either a wide angle lens for 35mm format cameras or equivalent to a 56mm standard lens on APS-C format DSLRs. Being a prime lens, image quality is first rate and is further enhanced by the inclusion of a moulded aspherical glass element.
Ideal for low light shooting
Having a wide maximum aperture of f/2 allows you to shoot in dimmer conditions with faster shutter speeds and with the added benefit of a brighter viewfinder image. Add to this another four stops of image stabilisation as compared to a lens without IS, and you’ll be able to shoot atmospheric shots in very low light without the need for flash, without worrying about camera shake.
Control Depth of Field
Another advantage of a wide maximum aperture is its shallow depth of field. If this is not desired then you can simply stop down for a greater depth of field. There is also an eight-bladed aperture diaphragm so any that defocused areas will be rendered pleasingly smooth even when the aperture is stopped down, an effect known as good bokeh.
Convenient and Fast focusing
The compact dimensions of this lens make it super-handy for everyday and reportage shooting. When you need that image instantaneously, you will appreciate the fast, near-silent USM autofocus. Its ring focus design allows the inclusion of full time manual focus override for manual adjustments at any time in AF mode.
