Meanwhile, the already impressive ISO of the EOS 550D is expandable up to 12,800 for the ultimate in dawn-‘til-dusk photography.
Canon’s 9-point auto-focus system with f/2.8 cross-type sensors offers brilliant clarity and accuracy across the frame, ensuring every point of every picture is pin-sharp.
And quick-fire 3.7 frame-per-second shooting enables superb split-second control with great accuracy.
What’s more, the Canon EOS 550D’s iFCL metering system adds an extra dimension previously only seen on more professional models – now it’s put in the hands of the serious amateur, allowing for extra experimentation in tricky conditions.
Knowing what’s in the frame is all important for this level of creative photography, and the EOS 550D’s 3in Clear View LCD screen with 1,040k dot resolution reveals 100% of captured images – with no unwelcome surprises or distortion. The anti-reflective coating means viewing is easy even in bright sunlight and from a range of angles.
And for those keen to bring their imaging armoury bang up to date, full HD movie capability opens up a whole new creative dimension for image lovers – and means a camcorder is no longer an absolute essential for the kitbag.
The Canon EOS 550D has an integrated high definition multi-media interface (HDMI) port, allowing video and images to be easily viewed on any HD-ready television – and even controlled with the TV remote – while content can also be transferred wirelessly thanks to the built-in Eye-Fi functions.
All wrapped up in a rugged, weather-proof stainless steel and polycarbonate resin body, the Canon EOS 550D is ready for anything.
