Description

This Micro Four Thirds camera has metal bodied construction and a classic design which is a work of art in itself. Its positive, ergonomic controls lend themselves to extra creativity, while the technology within is breathtaking with 16 megapixels and fantastic high speed stills and Full HD movie functions.

Excellent Image Quality
The DMC-GX1 is aimed squarely at enthusiasts with the emphasis being on construction and image quality. It houses a 16 megapixel Live MOS Sensor, with up to ISO 160-12,800 Sensitivity for great prowess in the field of low light image quality

High Speed Operation
With the GX-1 you can take bursts of still images at up to an amazing 20 frames per second! This is when using a resolution of 4 megapixels, but even at full resolution it’s possible to shoot at up to 4.2fps. If you’re shooting in RAW, you can take a sequence of up to 9 shots, and as many as your memory will allow in JPEG format.

Super fast AF
The advanced Contrast AF system allows focusing to be performed within as short a time as 0.09 seconds – being to cope with up to 120fps recording. The AFF (AF Flexible Mode) locks Auto Focusing but this can be “unlocked” to re-adjust with a half-press of the shutter. Ideal for great flexibility in varied shooting conditions.

Large Touchscreen
The GX1 has a large 3-inch LCD touchscreen monitor with an impressive 460k-dot resolution and gesture-based operation. However that’s not all it has to offer, also having an orientation sensor (flips when you rotate past 45°) and levelling gauge which is invaluable for landscape and architecture photographers. As an optional upgrade you can fit an LVF2 electronic viewfinder with a super-sharp 1.44 megapixel resolution.

Full HD Movies
Record superb Full HD (1080, 60i) movies with stereo sound and connect to your HD TV from the HDMI socket.

Creative Filters
As well as featuring manual exposure control options, this camera allows you to select from 9 creative filters including colour and picture effects – now includes Low Key and Toy Camera effects plus Expressive, Retro, High Key, Sepia, High Dynamic Range, and Miniature Effect. You can even adjust image parameters in these modes to gain even more control over your images.

Additional Features
  • Touch Zoom (with motorised zoom lens attached)
  • One Push AE

Awards & Reviews:

What Digital Camera (December 2011)
Gold Award 90%
"The super-fast autofocus is accomplished and the touchscreen makes for intuitive stills or movie capture, while small touches such as edge-to-edge and Pinpoint focusing make the camera all the more standout."

CNET (December 2011)
Editors Choice Award, 5 Stars
"A highly configurable camera that will appeal directly to the more ambitious photographer. Excellent low-light performance, accurate colour reproduction and sharp, noise-free results at even fairly middling sensitivity mean you'll have trouble finding a more flexible, dependable model than the Panasonic Lumix GX1."

Digital Photo (Feb 2012)
Gold Award, 5 Stars
"Similar in look and shape to Panasonic's early CSC-the GF1- the GX1 is a first class performer and great all-rounder. For our cash, this is the model we'd choose from the six CSCs tested."

Stuff (March 2012)
Test Winner, 5 Stars
“A compact, lightweight all-rounder, the Mirco Four Thirds Lumix has tank-like sturdiness and hefty dollops of user – friendliness, whether you’re a shutter nutter or wet behind the ears.”

Advanced Photographer (March 2012)
Best in test
"Performance is excellent, with fine image quality that can stand comparison with anything this side of a full-frame." "Image quality is outstanding"
