Description

Flagship compact camera with 14 megapixels, an extra large sensor, optical viewfinder and tilting LCD monitor.

Extra Large 14MP Sensor
The Canon PowerShot G1X is quite different from just about any other compact digital camera, its main differences being the extra large image sensor, comparable with those on compact system cameras and DSLRs. Why is this important? Basically the larger the sensor is the more light is captured and the lower margin for error. The result: far clearer pictures even in the most challenging lighting. In terms of numbers, the ISO rating can be set as high as 12,800, also thanks to the state-of-the-art DIGIC 5 image processing chip. The added benefit of a larger sensor is greater control over depth of field.

Wide Angle Optics with Intelligent IS
The 4x zoom lens on the G1-X is of the best optical quality and includes an Intelligent Image Stabilisation system. This automatically detects how much and what king of shake there is in an image and selects from seven possible correction modes.

View it Your Way
The G1 X retains a traditional optical viewfinder for a traditional style of shooting. If that’s not your style however, Canon have supplied a top-notch PureColor II VA 3.0” LCD screen to view your images on. With 920,000 pixels it will reveal intricate details for you to check your images over thoroughly.

Full HD Movies
This camera records movie footage in beautiful 1080p resolution at 24 frames per second. Optical zooming is possible during recording and your soundtrack is in stereo. Also has a HDMI output for your HDTV.

RAW and Full Manual Control
Adjust and compensate your exposures using the front or rear dials for ultimate control of aperture, shutter speeds and white balance. With the option of recording to 14-bit RAW, your images are in the highest quality and will respond well to post-production.

Additional Features
  • High Speed Burst (up to 4.5 frames per second over 6 frames)
  • Smart Auto from 32 scene types
  • Multi-Area White Balance – ideal for when there are several light sources in one image
  • HDR (High Dynamic Range) for punchy images with detail in both highlights and shadows. Uses multiple exposures
  • Built-in 3-stop ND filter – reduces light levels for when you are looking for wider apertures and therefore shallower depth of field
