The Ricoh WG-80 in Black is a tough digital compact camera that is perfect for your outdoor adventure. The WG-80 is waterproof to a depth of 14 metres, shockproof against a fall from a height of 1.6 metres and freeze-proof against temperatures as low as -10°C. This tough camera comes equipped with a 16MP back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, six Macro Lights to assist close-up shooting and has 25 useful scene modes including underwater and microscope modes.

Underwater shooting down to 14 metres, for up to two hours
The WG-80 not only allows for snorkelling just below the water surface but is also rated for up to two hours of diving at up to 14 metres (According to the IPX 8 or JIS Class 8 classification).
For underwater photography or video recording, the WG-80 has special shooting modes. Colours and contrasts are optimised to deliver sharp, lifelike images. The red tones that are lost in underwater photography are enhanced, while effectively compensating for a loss of contrast caused by the scattering of light in water. In addition, the flash function can be selected so that two pictures are taken in succession with (flash off) and (flash on). This prevents the fish from fleeing after the first shot if the flash is taken immediately.

Heavy-duty design
In addition to the underwater properties, the camera is also protected against falls from a height of 1.6 metres and is dustproof according to IPX 6 or JIS class 6. It is also frost-proof at temperatures of up to -10 °C and shatter-proof against weights of up to 100 kilograms. This makes it not only the perfect partner for expeditions and many outdoor activities, but also suitable for users who have to take photographs under difficult conditions, e.g. on construction sites.

Image quality
The WG-80 comes equipped with a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, which assures excellent high-sensitivity and low-noise characteristics and high-speed readout of image data signals. Coupled with a high-performance imaging engine, this image sensor delivers a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super-high-resolution images with approximately 16.0 effective megapixels. This camera also provides advanced image processing functions, made possible by the latest super-resolution technology, to assure sharp, clear, high-resolution images.

Anti-Shake Protection
The WG-80 offers innovative features such as Triple Anti-Shake Protection to prevent blurred images in shooting situations.

- Pixel Track SR mechanism
When recording still images, this advanced shake-reduction feature effectively compensates for camera shake by digitally processing affected images.

- Digital SR mode
The camera can detect when photos are taken in low-light conditions. This mode automatically raises the sensitivity up to as high as ISO 6400, making it possible to use a higher shutter speed and effectively minimize any adverse effects of camera shake and subject blur when dealing with poor lighting conditions.

- Movie SR mode
During movie recording, this mode effectively compensates for the misalignment of images caused by camera shake through the use of exclusive software to produce beautiful, blur-free movie clips.

5X optical zoom lens with a 28mm wide-angle coverage
The WG-80 features a high-performance, five times optical zoom lens with a focal-length coverage from 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to approx. 28mm to 140mm in 35mm format) to accommodate a wide range of scenes and subjects, including sweeping landscapes.
It includes shooting functions such as a macro mode to capture dramatic close-up images from a minimum focusing distance of a mere one centimeter; an Intelligent Zoom function to extend the zoom range to approximately 36 times (equivalent to 1008mm in 35mm format) without compromising image quality, for superior telephoto photography; and an interval shooting mode, which comes in handy for fixed point observation. As a special feature, the digital zoom offers an extension of the focal length range. At a resolution of 7.5 MP, the range is extended to 7.5x zoom and at a resolution of 640px even to 36x zoom.

Six Macro Lights to assist close-up shooting, with various functions
Ideally positioned six LED Macro Lights around the circumference of the lens barrel for macro shooting. This allows the WG-80 to provide bright, uniform illumination of a subject when the Digital Microscope mode is selected. Providing the maximum illumination intensity almost twice that of its predecessor and a five-step intensity adjustment function, this six light unit enables the photographer to effortlessly optimize the close-range flash photography based on the subject or creative intention.
In order to minimize camera shake and subject shake, the Instant Illumination Enhance function allows for the use of a higher shutter speed by automatically raising the discharge level of the Macro Lights at the moment of shutter release. The Macro Lights also provide other useful functions, such as a Self Portrait Assist mode, which uses the blink of an LED lamp to check if the subject’s face has been safely captured within the picture frame, and the LED Lighting mode, which uses the Macro Lights as a lighting device in the dark.

2.7-inch LCD monitor
The WG-80 comes equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD monitor with horizontally extended 16:9 pro-portions and approximately 230,000 dots. The monitor’s AR (Anti Reflection) coating minimises annoying glare and reflections to assure a sharp, clear on-screen image even in the harsh sunshine often encountered during outdoor shooting. It also comes equipped with such convenient features as: the Outdoor View Setting mode, which easily sets the optimum monitor brightness level for a given lighting condition.

Full HD movie recording
The WG-80 provides Full HD movie recording employing the H.264 recording format. Users can capture high-quality, extended movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 proportions) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. To add some creative touches to the movie recording, there is a high-speed camera function (1280 x 720 pixels) for slow-motion when playing back movies, and also an interval movie function. A micro HDMI terminal (Type D) is also provided on the camera body for simultaneous output of Full HD movie clips and sound to external audiovisual devices.

Shooting modes
This camera has 25 scene modes. These include settings for pets, fireworks, sports, night and macro photography - the camera automatically detects the right shooting situation and selects the exposure programme accordingly. With automatic face recognition, of up to 32 faces in 0.03 seconds, it's even easier to take portraits or even selfies - all it takes is a smile and the camera shoots. And if the eyes were closed in the picture, the camera even indicates this.

Filter effects
Twelve different filters make the shot perfect for uploading to Instagram. For example, star filters, retro filters or miniature filters allow for impressive pictures without extensive image editing.
