Snowdonia Photographic Break - Jessops Academy

Snowdonia Photographic Break

This three day residential break explores the majestic scenery of Snowdonia's mountains, whilst also offering streams, waterfalls, lakes and much more.

With the guidance of an on-hand Academy tutor, this experience offers the enthusiastic photographer a fantastic opportunity to capture sunrise and sunset images set against one of the most iconic back drops the UK has to offer.

DAY ONE

Snowdonia National Park has an abundance of photographic opportunities. With our help, this photographic break will give you the knowledge and knowhow to create and capture amazing landscape images at almost every angle.

The experience mainly revolves around practical application, however day one will begin with a brief introduction and theory session in order to successfully plan the next few days. The Academy tutor will guide you through which settings to consider and how to achieve the very best composition. After a brief practice shoot, we will then make our way to the first sunset location - South Stack lighthouse, Anglesey. Transport to and from our locations will be fully provided by the tutor, in a dedicated Jessops Academy vehicle.

DAY TWO

Day two will begin with sunrise at the famous "Lone Tree" at Llyn Padarn. We'll then continue photographing throughout the day at some of the area's most stunning valleys, streams and a beautiful waterfall. We'll finish the day with another sunset at a fantastic location.

DAY THREE

Day three will start with sunrise at the iconic Llandudno Pier, followed by a photographic walk of Dinorwig Quarry - a little quirky area of abandoned buildings and machinery

Price:  £600 - 3 day photographic break - Hotel: Seiont Manor

Seiont Manor Hotel

A previous knowledge of exposure - aperture, shutter speed and ISO is advisable for this experience. However, our expert academy tutor will be on hand to help with any settings you're feeling less confident about to ensure you get the results you want. You'll need to ensure that each day you have:

- Fully charged camera batteries (and any spares if you have them)
- Memory cards with a large capacity to capture RAW files.
- Lenses that offer a variety of focal lengths – a wide-angle lens for grandeur landscapes, and a long telephoto lens for any wildlife we may encounter.
- A sturdy tripod and a circular polarizing filter is also a must for spectacular landscape photography.

As this is an outdoor experience and we are visiting a mountainous area, some of the terrain will be on uneven ground. It is therefore advisable to bring waterproof clothing and protective footwear.
Breakfast and lunch is provided by us, and our chosen hotel will also fill your thermos flask free of charge for those chilly early mornings!

It's worth noting that although the majority of our shoot locations are a short walk from our parking area, Llyn Idwal sits approximately 20-30 mins walk from our chosen parking space in Ogwen Valley, Dinorwig, so be prepared for a short hike. The quarry can also be steep in places, but for the most part it is an enjoyable walk. With this in mind, good general fitness is required and of course, we will never leave a team member behind.

A member of our award winning Academy Training Team will be on hand at all times to give advice and guidance on photographic equipment and knowledge. All of our trainers are experienced photographers and have a broad knowledge of all camera manufacturers and types, to ensure that you’re able to make the most of each day.
