Lake District Photographic Break

The Lake District has so much to offer us as photographers with opportunities to create amazing images almost everywhere we look. Our photographic break will give you the knowledge and knowhow to create and capture these images.

A three day residential break that takes in the majestic scenery of the Lake District, Beautiful Fells, Tarns, Lakes and Mountain views.

This experience offers the enthusiastic photographer a fantastic opportunity to capture sunrise and sunset images set against one of the most iconic back drops the UK has to offer all with the support and guidance of an Academy Tutor on hand.

What happens on the day

This break heavily revolves around practical application. Day one will begin with a brief introduction and theory session planning for a successful landscape shoot. The academy team will guide you on what settings to consider and how to achieve the best composition. After a practice shoot, we will then make our way to the first sunset location. The team provides transport to and from all locations.

Day two will begin with sunrise high in the Langdale pikes, and we continue photographing through out the day taking in stunning scenery including tarns, fells and a waterfall, completing our day with our second sunset location.

Day three take in some of the iconic photographic locations on offer in the Lake District starting with sunrise and the atmospheric Castlerigg Stone Circle, after breakfast we take in the beautiful scenery of Derwent water.

Who will be there on the day?

A member of our award winning Academy Training Team will lead this Lake District photographic break. All of our trainers are experienced photographers and have a broad knowledge of all cameras to ensure you get the best from the day.

Suggested Equipment

A previous knowledge of exposure including aperture, shutter speed and ISO is advisable for this experience, however our expert academy tutor will be on hand to help with those settings.

On the day you will need your camera, fully charged batteries including spares if you have them, memory cards and lenses that offer a variety of focal lengths. A wide-angle lens for landscape, and a long lens for any wildlife we may encounter. A sturdy tripod and a circular polarizing filter is the foundation for any landscape photographers kit.

It is advisable to bring waterproof clothing and protective footwear as this is an outdoor experience and some of the ground areas are uneven. Wellington boots can also be an advantage in the Lake District.

Breakfast and Lunch is provided, our chosen hotel will also fill your thermos flask free of charge for those chilly early mornings!
