Panasonic LUMIX to be an Associate Partner of the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition in London

Winners of the prestigious international competition will be announced in October

September 2018: Panasonic LUMIX is pleased to announce that it will be an Associate Partner of the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition in London.

The world-renowned exhibition is the Natural History Museum’s annual showcase of the world’s best nature photography and wildlife photo journalism. Each year the Museum’s associated competition attracts over forty five thousand entries from some of the world’s most celebrated professional and aspiring wildlife photographers.

The exhibition features 100 acclaimed photographs from across the competition categories, which are judged by an international judging panel consisting of a diverse group of wildlife experts, editors, scientists and nature photographers.

A spotlight for both nature photography as an art form and the issues surrounding wildlife conservation, the winning images will be seen by millions of people around the world.

Winners of the 2018 competition will be announced at the Museum on Tuesday 16 October 2018, while the exhibition will run from 19 October. After the initial exhibition, the images will embark on a UK and international tour allowing a huge global audience to experience the images.

The 2019 competition will be open for entries almost immediately after the exhibition opens, from 22 October 2018, closing at 11.30am GMT on Thursday 13 December.

Panasonic LUMIX is delighted to be an associate sponsor of the exhibition, with a number of its recent cameras being the perfect partner for wildlife photography. The LUMIX G9 can shoot silently at 20fps, with super fast and accurate autofocusing. With fantastic build quality, it’s the ideal camera to use in all kinds of weather conditions, while the system is light enough to be carried for long periods of time. The Four Thirds sensor means that the effective focal length of long lenses is doubled – ideal for getting close to nature without disturbing the habitat.

Mike Owen, Professional Imaging Marketing Manager from Panasonic UK said ‘’It is really exciting to be partnering with the Natural History Museum and their Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. Panasonic has a long and successful background in creating high quality content and collaborating with one of the foremost photo exhibitions in the world, also with a reputation for high quality photography, is a natural fit for us. We hope to elevate the LUMIX brand further through support of the exhibition and that as we continue to move forward that we will see more and more wildlife photography shot on LUMIX products’’

Commenting further on the partnership, Sir Michael Dixon, Director of the Natural History Museum said ‘We’re delighted to welcome Panasonic LUMIX as a partner for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.  Whilst championing innovation in photography, artistry and technology, Panasonic share our vision for a sustainable planet, reflecting the core values of this much-loved exhibition.’
