Turn a great view into a great shot with the Sony SEL1018 lens

This super wide-angle zoom loves gorgeous scenery as much as you do. See the world differently when you take photos with a Sony lens. Sony's technology suppresses lens distortion, so your pictures have more contrast and clarity.

You also get faster, more responsive focus control, due to thinner, lighter lens elements than ever before. Experience the quality that comes with advanced design.

Capture smooth, blur-free images

Many people think of image stabilisation only in context of tele lenses. But if you have a stabilised wide angle lens, you can shoot perfectly smooth handheld videos and it makes it perfect when shooting interiors with available light.

Built-in Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilisation within the lens ensures smooth, blur-free photos and videos when shooting handheld.

Precise, high quality images

"Engineers designing wide angle lenses face two challenges: Avoiding distortion and giving the lens corner-to-corner resolution. Three aspherical lens elements minimise spherical aberration and distortion, even at maximum aperture.

Additionally, Super Extra-Low Dispersion glass reduces chromatic aberrations to sharpen image quality even at the 10mm focal length. This results in precise, high-quality images with rich contrast."

Fast, agile focusing

An internal focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn't move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances.

About Ole C. Salomonsen

Ole is a Sony Imaging Ambassador and renowned landscape and arctic light photographer based in the arctic of Norway. He currently shoots with the Sony A7R, A7R Mark II, A7S, A7S Mark II, and the A77 Mark II and A99. Ole shot all his pictures in this article with the Sony FE 12-24 F4 G lens.

Ole took this amazing shot, which he called "The Outpost" on the edge of Henningsvær, Lofoten in Norway, with his Sony A7Rm2 and the Sony FE 12-24 G 4. It is a beautiful example how an ultra wide-angle lens can add to a photgrapher's creative work. The ultra wide angle opens up the landscape, while staging the foreground with the path leading to the houses. The vast, overcast sky perfectly contributes to the atmosphere of this shot.
