Super CCD with Real Photo Technology This camera is about a lot more than just 11 million pixels. Super CCD technology has long been associated with class-leading performance in top-end digital cameras. Unlike generic image sensors, this system is developed and manufactured entirely in-house, and is performance only available from Fujifilm. Incorporating a newly developed ultrahigh precision Fujinon lens this model is optimised for nature photography.

Featuring a new lens shift image stabilisation mechanism the expertly designed Fujinon lens uses a sensor to detect and compensate for vibration within the camera body. (Equivalent to about three f stops).*

Extended Dynamic Range The FinePix S100FS has an extended dynamic range (100%, 200%, 400%) similar to that of negative film thanks to the newly developed low-noise 2/3-inch 11.1 Megapixel Super CCD VIII HR and the new RP Processor III. Film Simulation Modes Fujifilm's unique Film Simulation modes (FS) allow photographers to select the ideal "film" mode for the scene with a choice of four modes that optimise for portraiture, low-contrast (soft), vibrant colours (Velvia), or general use (Provia).

Each mode offers a subtle but unique change in tone and colour reproduction, emulating the original qualities of the highly regarded Fujifilm professional film products that inspire professional photographers the world over; providing you the with the widest latitude for the ultimate creative expression.

Multi Bracketing Functions

Fujifilm's new Multi Bracketing function; "Dynamic Range Bracketing", "Film Simulation Bracketing", and "Auto Exposure Bracketing" automatically varies the settings, and three frames are taken continuously with a single shutter release. Photographers can concentrate on getting the perfect shot, and decide later which image best captures the moment.

Face Detection Technology Fujifilm's award-winning Face Detection Technology has enabled a number of advanced features that will excite both novice and more experienced photographers and make getting perfect portraits easier than ever. Fujifilm's proprietary Face Detection 2.0 was first seen on the award-winning FinePix F50fd. This one-touch selectable mode enables cameras such as the FinePix S100FS to detect up to 10 human faces in a scene, correcting focus, exposure and white balance automatically as fast as 0.05 seconds to ensure that photos of human faces are clear and properly exposed, no matter where subjects are located within the frame. Fujifilm's Face Detection 2.0 has an advantage over the other face detection systems currently on the market because it can identify faces at extreme angles – even in full profile. The system allows for up to a 90° movement in either direction for profiles and up to 135° for leaning or lying down in either direction, for a total range of 270°. The technology works irrespective of the subject's position in the frame, and is not confused by people wearing glasses.

Say goodbye to red-eye – for good The FinePix S100FS also features the new fully automatic red-eye removal system. Red eye is the single biggest reason why the best portraits are ruined. The FinePix S100FS uses Face Detection technology to find and instantly correct any red eye from every face in the frame as the shot is taken. The system on the FinePix S100FS will only correct redness in the pupil of the eye, not elsewhere in the picture, because the camera uses eye detection within face detection to find the pupil. While other cameras can sometimes convert lips or red jewellery to brown or blue, the S100FS never gets it wrong.

Never a blurred moment The FinePix S100FS features Fujifilm's Dual Image Stabilisation technology to ensure clean, sharp and blur-free images, even in low-light conditions. This combines image stabilisation through a mechanically stabilised "floating" lens element to reduce blur from the photographer's hand-shake, with Fujifilm's Picture Stabilisation Technology, to reduce blur caused by subject movement, for the ultimate in stabilisation technology.

Advanced High Speed Continuous Shooting Mode Fujifilm's newly developed Super CCD VIII HR and the new RP (real photo) III Processor results in reliable high-speed performance; making it easy to shoot moving subjects such as pets, children and sports. This improved feature allows high-speed shooting of up to 50 continuous shots at 7 frames/second*

You are in control The FinePix S100FS allows photo enthusiasts and advanced photographer’s total control with manual adjustment options for the various camera settings including resolution, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and more.

Custom Settings There are a choice of 14 different scene settings, (SP1, SP2), which are optimised for each subject type. It is possible to precisely set optimal settings for the shutter speed, exposure and the white balance for each subject type.

SP1 has four sets of scene settings specifically for nature photography. You can store your own image settings for film simulation, Dynamic Range. You can quickly select the custom modes settings, (C1, C2), at any time.

High Precision Modes The FinePix S100FS has four AF modes of single AF, continuous AF, manual focus and one-push AF (for manual focus), to respond to diverse photography conditions. All modes offer high-speed, high-precision focusing. What is more the FinePix S100FS will capture images in both JPEG and RAW format.

Movie Mode Anyone who doesn't think that much of movie modes on digital cameras has not tried this one. Not only does it offer the top-level 30 fps VGA benchmark, but you can also use the zoom lens during recording, which is a special enhancement of this feature, and the AF and AE functions keep moving subjects in focus with optimal exposure.
