As seen on TV! The award winning Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ5 features a Leica 28mm wideangle lens, a massive 10x optical zoom plus optical image stabiliser. You can view your images and movies easily on the large intelligent 3.0-inch LCD monitor and print up to A3 size with the 9.1 megapixel resolution.

Get the best results you can with the Panasonic DMC-TZ5 which features a full 10x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 28-280mm) to give the greatest versatility without losing any resolution as a result of digital zooming. In the design of this lens, Leica have included three aspherical elements, one of which is a dual meniscus aspherical element. This helps to keep the lens amazingly compact whilst maintaining excellent sharpness.

If you require more zoom then Panasonic’s Extra Optical Zoom feature allows enlargement without losing quality when 7 megapixel or lower resolution is selected. Maximum Extra Optical Zoom varies between 11.3x and 16.9x depending on resolution and aspect ratio selected.

In addition due to a larger CCD area in relation to the lens, the 28mm wideangle zoom setting is available in all aspect ratio modes (4:3, 3:2 and 16:9).

The Panasonic DMC-TZ5 is equipped with a 10.7 megapixel CCD giving and effective resolution of 9.1 megapixels, for great results under enlargement.

iA (Intelligent Auto Technology)
Ideal for those opportunities when there’s not enough time for selecting shooting modes. It combines the following modes to give the best possible image:

• Motion Detection- Intelligent ISO control
• Shake Detection- Using MEGA O.I.S., Panasonic’s Optical Image Stabilisation technology
• Face Detection AF/ AE
• Quick AF- Starts focusing when you point the camera at a subject without needing to press the shutter halfway
• Scene Detection- Chooses the most appropriate mode from Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Scenery or Night Portrait.

Intelligent Exposure
This selectable feature automatically adjusts the ISO and therefore exposure of under or overexposed regions of an image. However, correctly exposed areas are left alone. This mode is especially useful for counteracting the effects of bright, “wased-out” skies and for dark background areas when using flash.

Advanced AF modes
The Continuous AF function enables the camera to continually adjust focus for the subject even when the shutter button has not been touched. This is especially useful for fast action photography and family portraits when you have no warning when your photo opportunity arises.

There is a choice of five different AF modes. These are Face AF (for single or multiple portraits), 3-Area High Speed AF, 1-Area High Speed AF, 1-Area AF and Spot AF.

Venus Engine IV
Improvement on Panasonic’s previous image processor (Venus Engine III). Specifically it features the following:

• More accurate detection and better correction for Optical Image Stabilizer and Intelligent ISO Control functions
• Separation of low frequency noise to reduce colour errors while avoiding loss of image resolution. Also colour changing information is retained in border areas to avoid colour bleeding as can happen with noise reduction. This is in addition to the previous chip’s separation of chromatic and luminance data. The net result is much better control of colour bleeding.
• High Speed response- release time lag (excluding AF) reduced to a minimum of 0.008 sec.
• Longer battery life for up to 300 shots on one charge (Based on CIPA standard).

3.0-inch LCD Display
Large display of 460,000 pixels for sharpness and ease of viewing. Screen brightness also varies intelligently according to the ambient light level. In addition, the High Angle Mode gives improved viewing when holding the camera in the air.

There are a total of 20 different modes to choose from. Below are some of the most useful:

• Multi-Aspect Mode- Simultaneously takes photos in 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 ratios so you can choose your favourite framing
