Scottish Outdoors Experience
Scotland Outdoors Experience
A weekend break that takes in all that's great about a Scottish country retreat. Beautiful scenery, landscape views, forest walks, cascading rivers, wild deer, birds of prey and a nature hide for photographing red squirrels and occasionally the elusive pine marten.
This experience offers the enthusiastic photographer a fantastic opportunity to capture hundreds of images of nature whilst having the support and guidance of an Academy Tutor on hand.
What happens on the day
The centre has multiple Red Squirrels living on site. Delegates will have special access to a carefully located hide only metres from the main feeding ground. There are so many Red Squirrels around that you may even by lucky enough to be joined by one at the windowsill whilst eating your breakfast!
The weekend heavily revolves around practical application, with a brief classroom theory session on the Friday night advising on what settings to use and how to achieve the best composition. On the Saturday and Sunday there will be ample opportunity to utilise the hide and through the day several trips and walks will be organised to go out and about around Kindrogan and capture the beautiful surrounding nature and landscape.
Who will be there on the day?
The Scotland Outdoors Experience will be led by a member of our Award Winning Academy Training Team. All of our Trainers are experienced photographers and have a broad knowledge of all cameras to ensure you get the best from the day.
A previous knowledge of exposure including Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO is advisable for this experience. On the day you will need your camera, fully charged batteries including spares if you have them, memory cards and lenses that offer a variety of focal lengths (wide for landscape and long for wildlife). It is advisable to bring waterproof clothing and protective footwear as this is an outdoor event and some of the ground areas are uneven.

Peter took an unusual route into photography, initially training to be a lawyer before realising that a life behind a desk was not for him. He started working in the Glasgow store where he took on the mantle of Academy Support Tutor. He delivers all of Glasgow's courses, workshops and experience days in the local area and is always keen to learn new things and share knowledge and experience. His abiding principle, when it comes to courses and workshops he leads is, making sure that customers learn as much as possible and have fun while doing so. He is friendly and good-humoured (as long as he's had his morning coffee!) - and nothing is too much trouble for him in making sure you have a great time on a Jessops course.
