The Nikon D5000 is small in size, yet big on performance. Its versatility and simplicity, plus the ability to record full high definition (HD) movies, makes it an extremely popular digital SLR camera.
This terrific kit represents incredible value at an affordable price, as it includes an 18-55mm lens to bring the best out of this DSLR camera.
Superbly detailed images can be enlarged considerably without any reduction in image quality, thanks to the D5000’s 12.3 megapixel sensor.
The inclusion of an 18-55mm VR lens brings distant subjects into clear focus and incorporates Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to eliminate camera shake. When teamed with the NIKON D5000’s impressive high ISO range of 200-3200, faster shutter speeds reduce the risk of blurred images when shooting moving subjects and enables clearer photos to be taken in low light.
Live View mode allows image composition using the LCD screen, with four auto focus modes ensuring sharp results: face priority, wide area, normal area and subject tracking for pin-sharp clarity across the frame. These are backed up by the D5000’s Multi-CAM100 11-point AF (autofocus) system.
The clever features don’t stop there, as Nikon has also included its Scene Recognition System in the D-5000, which optimises exposure, autofocus and white balance just before the shutter is released, delivering precise settings in a wide range of light conditions, whether you’re photographing an up-close portrait or a sweeping distant landscape.
In fact, the awkward conditions sunny days can cause present no problems for this camera, thanks to the EXPEED image processing system which reproduces the details in areas of highlight and shadow to give a truer view of what the human eye can see.
Picture Controls allow the look and mood of photos or D-Movie clips to be pre-determined, with six settings to choose from: standard, vivid, neutral, monochrome, portrait and landscape.
The D5000 includes 19 different Scene Modes to take the guesswork out of tricky photo situations by automatically adjusting the Picture Controls for the best-possible results.
Images are kept blemish-free, thanks to the Nikon D-5000’s Image Sensor Cleaning and Airflow Control systems’ ability to keep dust away from the camera’s image sensors.
The Nikon D 5000 features a large, vary-angle 2.7” LCD screen for easy framing and review of images. Editing photographs on the camera’s screen is also possible thanks to the Retouch Menu which offers a range of effects, including perspective control, soft focus and colour outline.
Other features of this impressive digital SLR camera include a highly durable 100,000-cycle shutter unit and quiet shooting mode.
Meanwhile, movie makers will be impressed with the D-5000’s ability to record beautiful 720p high definition (HD) movies with sound, with an HDMI output for convenient connection to an HD television. A wide range of NIKKOR lenses can also be used to obtain different cinematic effects.
