Massive 42x Zoom Lens
The Coolpix P510 houses an unbelievable 24-1000mm equivalent ED Optical Zoom with 1cm closeup shooting too! The Coolpix P510 will be able to provide the exact framing you desire, be it extra wide angle shooting or picking out a face from 500 feet away. With convenient Side Zoom Control, zooming is a straightforward operation too.
GPS Built-in
The GPS unit built into this camera can be used both for tagging and tracking. You can also display your travels to friends using the camera’s mapping software. It’s also compatible with Nikon “my Picturetown”, Google Earth and Nikon View NX2 software and sharing packages.
16.1 Megapixel Back Illuminated CMOS
The extra fine image sensor in the Coolpix P-510 uses a “back illuminated” design. What does this mean? Well it means that the layout of the image sensor is reversed; having the wiring array located behind the pixels, out of the light path. The result is more light is recorded, allowing for shooting in darker conditions and less image noise, or “grain”.
Large, Pull-out Screen
The 3.0” LCD monitor on the P510 is an extra high resolution 921,000-dot, Vari-angle design, ideal for shooting over heads and around corners.
Ideal for Fast Action
Included in the camera design is Optical VR (Vibration Reduction). This mechanically compensates for shake in both stills and movies. That’s not all though because the camera also has extra fast AF and a Burst mode that can take as many as 5 frames in a second.
Full HD Movies with Creative Modes
While you are recording full 1080p HD Movies with stereo sound on your camera, you can stop and start the movie with one touch of the dedicated button, and you can also take advantage of continuous autofocus. With creative modes such as High Contrast, Monochrome or Nostalgic Sepia you can make a very personalised video clip. Also has Slow or Fast Motion recording and HDMI connection for viewing on your HDTV.

- I had the Coolpix P500 and decided to up grade. Love the Effects Option and the Panaramic Option. The extra Optical Zoom is amazing. Once you get the hang of all the Options and Menu, this Camera is fairly easy to use. Heavier than the P500, but so many more features. Well done Nikon!!

- The only grip l have is when taking a snap it takes approx 3/4 seconds to return in order to take another photo. This may be able to be altered, will need to look into this.
