Jessops was founded in 1935 and passed out of the control of the Jessop family in July 1996 when it was the subject of an institutionally led management buyout/buy-in.

At the time of the buyout Jessops operated from 70 stores and has since embarked upon an ambitious store opening programme and acquisition strategy.

By far the biggest development for the company was our flotation on the London Stock Exchange in November 2004.
