Canon EF Lenses
EOS digital SLRs are backed up by the world's most comprehensive system of interchangeable lenses. From 14mm ultra wide
angle to 600mm super telephoto, the 60+ lenses in the EF series cover all possible shooting requirements. See the world from
new perspectives. Capture your vision through the eyes of EOS.
Fixed Lenses
The ideal option for the highest image quality in sharpness and contrast.
Fixed focal length lenses generally offer a wider maximum aperture than zoom lenses. From ultra-wide angle lenses ideal for
indoor shooting to long telephoto lenses extensively used for wildlife, sports and news photography Canon has the fixed focal
length lens to suit you.
Zoom Lenses
These lenses give you the freedom to switch perspectives in seconds.
Zoom lenses are very convenient. The equivalent of two or more fixed focal length lenses in one unit. The maximum aperture
of some zoom lenses changes as you alter the focal length, but through-the-lens (TTL) metering takes this into account to
give correct exposure.
Image Stabilisation
Image stabilised lens is used to prevent camera shake from spoiling the shot. This is particularly useful on close-ups
or at slow shutter speeds, in situations where a tripod camera cannot be used. Optical shake is detected by gyro sensors which
provide data to neutralise the shake. Some EF lenses have two IS modes, including one for panned shots to help you enjoy still
greater photographic freedom.
Standard Lenses
Standard lenses are compact and affordable with general-purpose standard zoom.
Provides great performance in
low light conditions.
Wide Angle Lenses
This lens allows you to get more
of the scene into your photo while giving
a greater sense of depth and distance.
Aim for a focal length between 17mm and 24mm,
taking into account the crop factor for
your camera. Most landscape photography
requires a large depth-of-field to get as
much of the scene as possible into focus.
This means that typically, you do not require
a large maximum aperture. What you do
require is high quality optics to capture tiny
details in your scene.
Macro
Make the most of the tiniest detail that even the human eye cannot capture.
Bringing a miniature world into life-size view.
Macro photography allows you to explore a whole new world
of hidden details. Canon's EF lens line-up has a number of
options for true closeup and macro photography so you
can reveal intricate beauty that the unaided eye will miss.
